Webinaire du centre de connaissances sur le tabac de la CCLAT consacré à la prévention

The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Knowledge Centre on Public Awareness, supported by France and set up by the Santé Publique France agency, is organising a webinar on 1 February 2024 entitled:

“What if the most effective way to implement prevention interventions was to adapt existing interventions to new contexts? Focus on public awareness and tobacco control »

The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (CCLAT) of the World Health Organization (WHO) is the first international health treaty. Legally binding, its objective is to "protect present and future generations from the devastating health, social, environmental and economic consequences of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke."

Knowledge centres ('hubs') have been planned to raise awareness of the obligations and implications of the FCTC among FCTC signatory Parties. They aim to disseminate knowledge and skills on the FCTC, establish interactive functioning and share good practices.

The ninth of these knowledge centres, linked to Article 12 of the FCTC, was entrusted to Santé publique France, in coordination with the FCTC Secretariat and the other Parties to the treaty. Article 12 of the FCTC addresses education, communication, training and public awareness of the health risks associated with tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke, as well as the benefits of smoking cessation and tobacco-free lifestyles.

This webinar aims to highlight the benefits and challenges of adapting existing effective interventions in new contexts. Good prevention practices, focus points and guidelines for awareness campaigns will be presented through inspiring international examples.

The webinar is likely to be of interest to anyone working in a structure contributing to the fight against tobacco (public institutions, community, associations, private structures, etc.) or to the implementation of public health policies.

Date: Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CET), via Zoom

Languages: English and French (simultaneous interpretation system)

This webinar will feature speakers:

  • David Chambers, Deputy Director for Implementation Science, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (United States).
  • Nandita Murukutla, Vice President, Advocacy and Communications, Vital Strategies.
  • Alice Escande and Benji Horwell, Behavioral Insights Team.
