Cigarettes électroniques : des produits dangereux ou mal dosés dans le e-liquide ?

According to a study of 33,000 products present in e-cigarette liquid, a number of them are dangerous, while others do not meet the nicotine dosage requirements.

Products dangerous to health

This study, conducted by ANSES (French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety) was published on October 28, 2020. It highlights the fact that carcinogenic products, likely to promote genetic mutations, sterility or malformation in babies, are present in certain electronic cigarette liquids.1]. Indeed, according to this study, "nearly 4% of the 33,000 types of e-cigarette liquids sold in France contain prohibited ingredients [2]».

Inaccurate nicotine dosage

Furthermore, while the nicotine dosage indicated by e-cigarette manufacturers is 40%, many do not respect this dosage. For 1% of these manufacturers, the authorized threshold of 20mg of nicotine per milliliter is even exceeded. The declarations made by the manufacturers are therefore inaccurate and ANSES has called on them to stop these false declarations and has published a list of their names on their website. Since 2016, manufacturers have been required to declare the products contained in e-liquids, this will therefore allow for continued studies on the possible dangers of these products. An in-depth study on the subject which could therefore provide absolutely necessary elements when we know that "in percentage, there are three to four times more prohibited ingredients in these liquids than in conventional cigarettes or cigars whose dangers are known [3] ».
